You can obtain a Hungarian birth/marriage/death certificate from our office IF the relevant registry event (birth, marriage, death) has already been registered in Hungary. If not, you need to register it first. For example, if you would like to get your newborn’s Hungarian birth certificate, you need to book an appointment for registration of birth since the birth has to be registered (as part of the procedure, you will receive a certificate). On the other hand, if your child’s birth has already been registered and you simply cannot find the birth certificate, you can obtain a new one in our office. Certificates are issued in three languages (Hungarian, English, French).
Please be informed that if you would request a Hungarian birth/marriage/death certificate because you need to obtain diplomatic attestation on it for use in the UAE or another country, it is not possible to attest a certificate that was issued by a consul abroad, only if it was issued by a civil registrar in Hungary. In this case, you are advised to obtain a new certificate in Hungary (which can be done through a proxy as well).

Requests can be submitted in person or through a proxy (proxy needs to attend the appointment in person).

- Valid passport or ID
When will my certificate be ready and how will I know?
Certificates are issued within a month. You will be receive an e-mail notification.
