Modifying foreign Address - Embassy of Hungary in

Modifying foreign Address

If you already have an official residential address abroad in the Hungarian Personal Data and Address Register and you have moved to another foreign (non-Hungarian) address – e.g. from one UAE address to another or from Spain to the UAE – you can modify it online or at our Embassy. In case you move back to Hungary in the future, you will be able to register a Hungarian address as your residential address again.

Who needs to attend the appointment?

If you choose to submit the request at our Embassy, you have to do it in person. For minors, we need both parents to attend the appointment.

You can do the procedure online as well at www.nyilvantarto.hu/ugyseged.

What do I need to submit upon my visit?

  • Request form
  • Address card request form if you wish to request a new card
  • Valid Hungarian passport or national ID card
  • Original Hungarian address card – you won’t receive a new address card since it already says ’foreign address’, which is not specified on the card itself, only in the register
  • Proof of marital status – if you are married/divorced/widowed, you need to submit your Hungarian marriage certificate/late spouse’s death certificate
  • For minors, the child’s Hungarian birth certificate and both parents’ valid ID is required (for non-Hungarian citzens the following IDs can be accepted: for citizens of any EU member state, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland passport or national ID, for all other countries passport only).

How will I know if my application was successful?

If you submitted your request at our Embassy, you will receive an e-mail notification. If you submitted your request online, you will receive a notification on the same platform.
