Know your visa type
Before applying, please ensure you are clear on your purpose of visit. Do remember that we are here to assist and help you during the entire visa application process, but we are not permitted to guide you on choosing a visa category.
To visit Hungary you may need a visa. Visa is a permit to enter Hungary for a short stay visit, not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period for purposes like tourism, business, conference participation, or cultural events.
Type of short term visas:
- Tourism
- Business visa: for applicants wishing to travel for business purpose or attending business meetings in Hungary
- Family member of EU citizens
- Minors
- Medical Visa
- Sport
- House Maids
- Conference
You can apply for the Short Term Visa at one of VFS Global's Visa Application Centers, the Hungarian authorities have 15 days to make the decision.
Please be advised that during the time of the assessment Consular Section will not answer any form of enquiry regarding state or outcome of the procedure.
If your application is turned down, the decision of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary in Abu Dhabi will be given in a standardized written form in which you will get information as to why your application was rejected. If you received a decision you are not satisfied with, you can submit a written appeal no later than 8 calendar days from the day you received the decision. The appeal procedure has a fee of 641 AED, which you can pay by card only. The appeal must be presented personally at the Visa Section of the Embassy of Hungary in Abu Dhabi. Kindly note that an appointment booking is required.
Please note that there is no exception to these rules.
The appeal is assessed and decided by the Hungarian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade in 15 calendar days after the submission. You may be requested to provide further supporting documents to the appeal procedure. Please be advised that during the time of the assessment Consular Section will not answer any form of enquiry regarding state or outcome of the appeal procedure. Please note that the time of the appeal procedure cannot be reduced.
If your application is turned down in appeal procedure for a second time you are entitled to seek judicial review of this decision. Petition for judicial review shall be submitted no later than 3 calendar days from the day you received the decision in the appeal procedure. The petition shall be submitted at the Visa Section in person or sent to the latter by registered courier. The petition is judged by the Metropolitan Administrative and Labor Court in Hungary in 8 calendar days after the petition is registered with the court. The court has the competence to assess the legality of the visa procedure. Therefore, the petition shall be based on evidence that during the visa procedure or the appeal procedure the respective authorities braked or failed to observe the law or their decision was unfounded. The fees of procedure shall not be surrendered at the time of submitting the petition. The court’s decision will also dispose on the fees.
